You've Been Ducked

Have you been travelling anywhere recently and found yourself surrounded by a range of costume themed bath time ducks? If you found yourself thinking "What the duck is going on here?" ... you're not alone! These rubbery rascals have taken over tourist shops and street corners faster than you can say "quacktastic." So, like any Gen z-er in the 21st century, I whipped out my phone and Googled the duck out of it. Here's what I found:

The Duck Dynasty is credited to Ashley Davis and his daughter, Abby. Back in 2018, they turned a child's mission to hide 50 ducks around a cruise ship for people to find into a global movement, transforming a cruise ship into a ducking playground. Abby's duck-hiding escapade on the Carnival Breeze unleashed a tidal wave of joy, the aim of her "hide and seek" was to make people smile. Now their Facebook group has more members than ducks in a pond – 206,000 and counting!

What is this cruise ship game of hide and seek – duck edition? Imagine cruisers armed with rubber ducks, each one customised with its own mini tag, slyly hidden around the ship. It's like a duck themed treasure hunt, where fellow cruisers locate, snap a pic, and then have to decide whether they keep the newfound feathered friend, or pass it on for the next duck enthusiast to discover.

Fast forward to covid lockdowns and Jeep joined the duck party in 2020. Allison Parliament from Ontario, Canada, kickstarted the trend during the early pandemic days by gifting rubber ducks with heartwarming notes like, 'Have a great day.' Now, Jeeps worldwide are part of the "Duck, Duck Jeep" craze, waving their feathers in solidarity. If a duck is left for you it is a random act of kindness where someone is trying to brighten up your day - lets face it, you can't help but smile.

So, why all this quackery, you ask? Simple – it's about spreading kindness and making someone else smile! These ducks aren't just invading, they're on a mission to brighten your day, hidden in unexpected places, just waiting to waddle into your heart and bring a grin to your face.

And guess what? Little Green Me is joining the quacktastic mission with duck-inspired designs crafted to spread joy faster than a duck splashing in a puddle! Quack up your style and share the love – because in a world filled with ducks, kindness is the real feather in our cap.

Captain Beak Little Green Little Me

So who is Captain Beak? Our very own travel duck! The Captain was left for us in a hotel room in Vancouver and lead our adventures from there on out! He defies the laws of water and gravity. No ocean is too vast, no mountain too high, and no rubber ducky hot tub too tempting for this brave duck on a mission. He's the James Bond of the rubber duck world, with a license to quack and a knack for navigating the most puddle-packed terrains. Trust in the duck!
